How to Measure for Custom Air Filters

Whether you need a residential or commercial filter, sometimes the filter size you need is no longer made, or perhaps you have a unique manufacturing situation in which standard filters won’t provide enough filtration for the job. Then it’s time to consider ordering custom air filters.

Ordering Custom Air Filters

There are several things you have to consider when ordering custom air filters:

  • Size: What size do you need? What is the height, width, and depth? The dimensions printed on a filter can be confusing. For example a 1” filter depth can be about 7/8” or ¾”; a 4” depth can be 3¾” to 4½”. Just carefully measure what you have and bring it to us; we’ll create a new custom filter to those exact dimensions. If you’re going to send us the measurements, measure the existing filter by standing it with the pleats perpendicular to the floor, then measure the height and width. For an even more accurate measurement, measure the filter track. That way if you have the wrong sized filter, you won’t be perpetuating the mistake.

  • Filter Material: Next, you’ll need to choose the air filter material. Air filters can be created in a variety of efficiencies, and are made of various materials. This is where an expert from Twin City Filter Service can help you choose the best filter. Depending on where the filter is going and the type of particulate that needs to removed from the air, we can help you select the best filter for you.

  • Replacements: There are many options to almost all filter situations. Do you want washable or disposable? There are many sub-categories under each. Call us to discuss which options will work best for your situation.
