Air Quality and Commercial Filters

Commercial filters can be used in residential, commercial and industrial applications. Let’s take a closer look at commercial filters in commercial or business locations, and the factors you may need to take under consideration when choosing filters for commercial or business locations.

Factors Affecting Air Quality and Commercial Air Filters
If your goal is to improve the air quality inside of a commercial building, it helps to consider many factors before deciding on the right filter.

What is the environment inside the store like? Think for a minute about a strip mall with several different stores. There may be a shoe store, a deli, a hair salon and a Laundromat. Each of these stores presents a very different environment. The shoe store probably has a dry, consistent temperature, while the deli may produce a lot of heat and grease from the kitchen area, which can leak into the main store. And a Laundromat and hair salon both produce heat and moisture, two factors that can influence air quality. Moisture and heat encourage mold and mildew, which can negatively impact air quality.

Foot traffic through the location is another factor to consider. The more people moving through an enclosed space, the lower the air quality. You may need to address periods of greater or less foot traffic and change your commercial filters accordingly.

Custom Filters May Improve Air Quality
Many commercial building managers use off-the shelf filters and they’re fine with the results. Custom filters may improve air quality by reducing air bypass around the filter frame. A custom filter frame should create a better fit, which should decrease by-pass, forcing more air through the filter and reducing the overall particulate matter in the air. Depending on your needs, you may want to consider installing custom filters and frames in your commercial building.
